Poster presentation guidelines
Posters will be displayed at a central location at the conference venue. You can hand in your printed poster at the registration desk when you arrive at the conference.
A poster pitch session will be scheduled, registered poster presenters will be informed later on about this.
We will also display the posters digitally at the conference venue. Please submit a digital version of your poster before June 20, 2017, if you wish to use this opportunity to show your work
The poster should summarize your research in a clear, attractive, and concise way
The responsibility for printing the poster as well as the printing costs will be with the poster presenter
The poster should be in US or UK English; please be consistent
The poster should be A0-size (1189 x 841 mm, or 46.8 x 33.1 in), one-sided
In case of any copyright issues, please inform us by separate e-mail via iasc2017@2017.iasc-commons.org as soon as you have uploaded your poster.
General
Each presentation will last between 17-20 minutes (depending on total number of presentations in your session), please time your presentation and number of slides accordingly.
Please make sure to have your presentation handed in on USB to the staff member designated to your room at least 15 minutes before the start of your session, so we can install and pre-run your presentation well in time.
All presentations will be in English.
In every room projection materials or a touch screen monitor will be available. In case of beamers a clicker will be available; in case of monitors, you can use the touchscreen functions. Ask our staff members for directions if necessary.
In most rooms, microphones will not be necessary; where necessary, a microphone and speakers will be ready to use.
Your slides
We recommend you to use PowerPoint for composing your presentation. We cannot guarantee the proper working of other software on the equipment available.
We recommend to keep your slides concise and limited in number; this will draw the attention to your presentation rather than to the screen.
Suggestion: light text on a dark background is far better to the eyes of your audience.
Technical information
As many people will be using the conference wifi, please limit the use of online sources (audio/video) to an absolute minimum. In case you want to include sound and/or links to online sources, we recommend you to test these well before your session starts. We also recommend you to have an alternative presentation ready in case included links/audio/video does not appear to work properly.
In case you have specific reasons to present from your own laptop, please inform our staff well in time. In most cases you will need a VGA connection or adapter to VGA connector
We recommend all chairs to be at their session room about 15 minutes before the start of the session; please also make sure that participants in your session will be there in time to upload their presentation
Student staff will be available to help the chair and presenters to upload presentations
The main task for session chairs during the sessions is to make sure a session runs smoothly, presenting time is equally distributed among the presenters, and to make sure that there will be time left for discussion.
The time allotted to each participant obviously depends on the number of papers presented in the session; each session will last 90 minutes.
As chair you have to be very strict about the time a speaker has to make sure each presenter will get to present; time signalling cards will be at your disposal in every room.
After the presentations, the chair or another discussant starts the discussion with a comment in which each of the papers is discussed. After that the discussion is open to everyone.
Please make sure that there is sufficient time (half an hour, preferably more) left for discussion
